Registering New Born Babies
Your new baby needs to be registered with us as a patient so that we can complete the 6 week check and the immunisations needed.
This also means that we start a medical record for your baby.
As soon as we receive your discharge summary from the hospital, informing us about your delivery, we will register your new baby onto our computer system, using the baby’s unique NHS number that is issued by the Health Authority.
If we don't receive this summary for any reason we may need to phone to check that you have delivered! and then to ask for your baby's NHS number, gender, name, date of birth and other details.
We will then write to you giving you details of their appointment for a 6 week check and their first immunisations.
When you first come to the surgery with your baby, please give us details of the babies first names and surname, so that we can update their registration details.
Please bring their red book with you when you come in for appointments regarding them. This will ensure that their records are up to date.
